Last year, Nike officially relaunched the Kobe line with a “Halo” colorway of the 8 Protro on his birthday. They promised to continue the tradition every year with an angelic white Kobe release, and this year, we see the return of the 9 Elite in Halo form. The Kobe 9 stands out from other silhouettes thanks to its exaggerated height. It was the first sneaker Kobe played in after returning from his Achilles injury in 2013 and featured an ode to the scars on its heel. For its Protro upgrade, the Kobe 9 Elites sees the addition of a React midsole for greater responsiveness. The beloved Flyknit upper and outsole remain intact, and now the traction extends to the exterior for additional grip.
The Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro will be released on August 23rd in men’s and big kid’s sizes for $240. Will will also be releasing a variety of Nike Kobe Protros this weekend in the DROPS By SoleSavy app.
