The New Balance 2010 is Next Up

New Balance’s next big sneaker is upon us.

The brand’s dominant run of lifestyle runners is starting a new chapter.

The shift to prioritizing comfort has benefited New Balance, among other brands, the most. The Boston brand has developed some culture-defining partnerships, and that has allowed the brand to explode into the popularity it enjoys today. The ABZORB 2010 is the latest in-line model from New Balance, and it looks poised to be the next “it” sneaker.

Looking back on how New Balance has gotten here, two things stick out far above anything else.

First, the aforementioned partnerships that have pushed New Balance forward. Collaborations with Joe Freshgoods and Salehe Bemburry, to name a few, have granted the creatives a chance to put their spin on the latest offerings from New Balance. Partnership with cornerstones of streetwear- like the long-standing relationship with KITH, or the appointment of Teddy Santis as the Made in USA Line Creative Director- has allowed the brand even more validity in the eyes of consumers. Who can deny the impact of the brand when it is present all over Aime Leon Dore lookbooks?

Perhaps more impressive, though, is the success the in-line sneakers from New Balance have had with every day consumers. Yes, sneakerheads were ready for Joe FreshGoods to drop his collab on the 9060 via Instagram but, realistically, the casual consumer fell in love with the in-line model they found at their local retailer. The same could be said for the 1906R, first re-introduced by Korean fashion label THISISNEVERTHAT, as customers wanting to try the sneaker out can simply walk into their local JD Sports and grab a pair in a fun in-line colorway.

At the risk of sounding redundant, the same examples can be found with the 2002r, the 550, the 530, and so on. This is not to say those collaborations that introduced, or in some cases re-introduced, the sneaker space to these models were insignificant- because of course they matter. The more impressive reality, though, as that New Balance has time and time again found a way to make their in-line sneakers capture the attention of fans wanting just a little piece of the sneaker space. As sneakerheads chase the latest New Balance collaboration with KITH, the average consumer is just as excited to find the “less-hyped” version of that model available for purchase. And that is a sign to the strong hold New Balance currently has in the sneaker consciousness.

The ABZORB 2010 is up next.

It checks off all the boxes needed for New Balance to have a successful sneaker. From a technical standpoint- the sneaker features a diamond-knit mesh upper for breathability. An ABZORB midsole, which features a blend of foam cushioning and compression set featuring rubber, provide the necessary comfort for the 2010 to make someone’s daily rotation. With colorways like the debuting “Vintage Khaki” on the way, it is hard to deny the sneaker is ready to make it’s arrival.

Kith x New Balance 2010

Speaking of indefinability, the 2010 is already being prepped for some great collaborations. KITH’s upcoming collaborations first appeared in the brands previews for their Spring collection. The KITH 2010 collaboration will arrive in two colorways full of vibrancy and Ronnie Fiegs touch of gold. Similarly, New Balance appears to be once again teaming up with Rich Paul and Klutch Sports. Last collaborating in 2023, the partnership is expected to release a pastel colored 2010 that Rich Paul himself previously wore court side.

Looking at everything together, the 2010 will be another comfortable in-line sneaker for New Balance. If the “Vintage Khaki” colorway is any indicator, the in-line product is poised to deliver great colorways. In fact, a sleek colorway has already been teased for Grey Day as well. The sneaker will also have the collaborative energy needed for a sneaker to succeed in such a crowded sneaker space.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
