Jordan Brand announced earlier this week that it has added 32 scholarship recipients to students from all over the United States for its Wings Program. The initiative, founded in 2014, has partnered with 30 organizations to fund 1,800 full-ride scholarships to achieving students from all over North America and Greater China.
NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul welcomed the Class of 2024 recipients via video, congratulating all of their hard work and perseverance amid the coronavirus pandemic. Craig Williams, President of Jordan Brand, stated in a release that “the ball should bounce the same for everyone.”
“By reducing barriers like cost of tuition, we can enable students to pursue their education without added distractions,” he said. ” … To this end, we provide each student with a host of resources throughout their collegiate studies including one-on-one mentorship and internship sourcing. Together, we will help the next generation fly.”
A five-student increase was seen this year as scholars from Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Charlotte and Portland were selected to join the prestigious program as they embark on their academic journeys.
