Converse Basketball continues to regain steam in the world of performance footwear with its latest endorsement deal. Oklahoma City Thunder point-guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the latest addition to the Converse roster, announcing a multi-year partnership with the Nike subsidiary earlier today. The move marks Shai’s first venture into footwear and will begin with a slew of Converse All-Star Pro BB colorways as teased via a recent Instagram story.
In an interview with Nick DePaula for ESPN, Gilgeous-Alexander explains some of the reasons why he chose the legacy brand for his first partnership: “the exclusiveness of the brand, not having so many guys, and the ability to express myself on and off the court in so many different ways appeals to me so much.” As an avid sneakerhead and fan of both Nike and Jordan Brand, falling under that family of sportswear aligns perfectly with Gilgeous-Alexander core values. We’re excited to see where this partnership takes the young Hamilton, Ontario native moving forward.
