I had an interesting conversation with adidas the other day. They are really trying to crack down on reselling and resellers. This is specifically in regards to adidas.com, adidas.ca and Yeezysupply.com. Not the easiest task but here is what I do know…
- they are looking at order history and banning customers from high platform releases who show a “history of behavior” that makes it look like a reseller. ie buying 5x pairs of heat, never buying the same size, buying GR product at big discounts in higher than normal volumes. I wouldn’t worry at all about helping your friends or someone in the community, the buying trends they are looking for are unique.
- they are putting CC and address limitations in place for high heat launches to try and limit user abuse of the product.
- They didn’t say this to me directly but the discussions I’ve had with customer support before made it clear they are trying strict measures to limit bot abuse but regular humans like us are 100% getting caught up on it.
How does this affect you going forward? Normally I recommend having 5-6 browsers open trying for a specific release and I do NOT recommend that tomorrow. I recommend you do 1 browser with one regular tab, one incognito for a total of 2 queues on desktop with wifi. And then do one more queue on your phone with wifi off and use cellular data. They are trying really hard — and failing to a degree — to do what they can to allow more people to buy.
Fun story while I’m here: in January I bought 60 pairs of wave runners (through the help of the community) and shipped it all to my house. adidas has banned me since lol I asked twice now to unban me from their system
