“It’s hard to believe that it was just five years ago that the Whitaker Group was preparing for its first Jordan Brand collaboration and joint activation at the 2018 Charlotte NBA All-Star Weekend. Dropping a Proto-Max 720 and Air Jordan 6 NRG, the weekend served as a preview of what was to come between James Whitner and the Jumpman. Fast forward to now, and A Ma Maniére is one of Jordan Brand’s go-to hitmakers, dropping a slew of Air Jordan retros in the last few years. For their next act, AMM is using the Air Jordan 12 as a canvas to tell the “She’s The Blueprint” story.
The sneaker and accompanying video serve as an ode to Black women and the role they play in culture. Coming in White/Burgundy and Black/Burgundy colorways, this take on the AJ12 uses suede burgundy accents, AMM badging on the tongue and aglets, branded heel tab, and quilted liner that sneakerheads have come to expect from the brand’s Jordan collaborations. Both pairs use premium suede for the mudguards while the White/Burgundy uses a leather upper and the Black/Burgundy opts for a suede upper. In addition to the two pairs, an apparel capsule was designed using cream, black, and burgundy season pieces.
The release begins with women’s early access at all Whitaker Group (TWG) doors, with only women being able to enter the in-store raffle from 2/14 to 2.15. Local in-store raffles at all TWG doors, Discord Raffle, and general online raffle will begin on 2.16 until 2.19. The Black pair of the AMM x AJ12, along with the apparel collection officially launches on February 24 at 11 AM EST on amamaniere.com and March 2 on SNKRS and at boutiques. $225 in Adult sizing ranging from Men’s 3.5/ Women’s 5 – Men’s 14/ Women’s 15.5 for both Black and White colorways. The White colorway will release exclusively at amamaniere.com on March 2. A full-size range of PS priced at $85 and TD priced at $65 are available in Black/Burgandy.
