Nike is no stranger to the idea of legacy. No other shoe in their storied history holds the weight of their legacy like the Nike Air Ship. The Nike Air Ship was the shoe Michael Jordan played in until his signature Air Jordan 1 was ready and was the sneaker that was truly banned from the hardwood. That idea of legacy is the foundation of A Ma Maneire, its Air Jordan 3 collaboration that celebrated mothers with exceptional storytelling. Now the duo is partnering for an exclusive take on the elusive sneaker with a corresponding advertisement.
The “Do It In The Dark” short film features the Atlanta Dream players Rhyne Howard, AD Durr, and Naz Hillmon. It showcases the sacrifices and grueling work that fueled their respective journeys while reflecting on the rich history of the city of Atlanta showcasing historical locations like the Butler Street YMCA, which was the only YMCA Black residents could join for many years and was used by Martin Luther King Jr for rallies and recreational activities.
The upcoming A Ma Maniere x Nike Air Ship is limited to 2,300 pairs, and in typical A Ma Maniere fashion, the look is a mix of simplicity and luxury. The sneaker has an all-white leather upper with blue accents mimicking the OG colorway. The blue features prominently and hits on the ankle collar, outsole, and Swoosh. “Nike Air” branding on the heel and tongue is joined by A Ma Maniere branding on the tongue to complete the look. The sneakers will be accompanied by an apparel collection and are slated to be released on August 26 via A Ma Maniere. A retail price of $160 has been set. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
