Aimé Leon Dore Previews New Balance 991 Collaboration

Teddy Santis’ Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have more on the way.

Following last year’s momentum that included collaborations on the 550, the 1300, and the 993, the renowned boutique hailing from Queens is back at it again with the Boston-based brand.

Aimé Leon Dore is taking on the New Balance 991 with its latest collaborative effort. The 991, launched in 2001, has always been an internal member of New Balance’s 99X line. Recently, the 991 has been a canvas for including PattaStray Rats, and even SneakersNStuff’s upcoming collab. Now, ALD takes on the silhouette.

Aimé Leon Dore previewed its joint New Balance 991 with the help of Andreas Makaris, the legendary fifth-generation potter from Athens, Greece — tying Santis’ Greek heritage into the fold. In a five-minute short, Makaris discusses what it means to be an artist, his family’s ties to pottery, and the beauty within his craft.

A definitive look at the upcoming Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 991 is still left to be seen. Based on the teaser, the ALD x NB 991 appears to be dressed in rich brown leather with cream, grey, and white details. Though no sign of a predominantly suede upper, the 991’s signature mesh panels remain intact.

A release date for the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 991 has not been announced. However, we expect the pair to release on AimeLeonDore.com before a potential wide release on NewBalance.comAs always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
