2022 is the year of the Air Jordan 2, from A Ma Maniere, Union, to the upcoming Two18 pair, the oft overlooked silhouette is getting renewed shine. This time Jordan Brand is pairing with another Chicago legend for a new take on the Air Jordan 2. Renowned artist Nina Chanel Abney is putting her unique artistry on an equally unique shoe.
While most of the recent takes on the shoe have been altering the AJ2 with more additions to the sneaker, Nina Chaney Abney’s iteration goes for a more pared-down approach. The sneaker’s usual piping and trim have been removed making for a more streamlined affair. The sneaker’s white leather upper is accentuated by hits of suede on the toe and heel tab as well as reptilian overlay panels. A red heel panel gives it that familiar Chicago feel while the Sail outsole adds a vintage energy to the sneaker. To tie it all together, black shoelaces, insoles bearing Nina Chanel Abney’s signature and a frame-style hangtag featuring Abney’s artistic depiction of His Airness.
The Air Jordan 2 x Nina Chanel Abney drops on July 8 on SNKRS and select retailers and will retail at $250. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
