UPDATE AUGUST 26: After sparking rumors after his attendance at the Jordan Brand Board of Governors event, New Orleans Pelicans and USA Basketball star Brandon Ingram has officially signed to the Jordan Brand. Ingram joins a star-studded Jumpman NBA roster, including his teammate Zion Williamson. Ingram has been wearing the Air Jordan 38 during the FIBA World Cup this summer.
Original Story July 19:
No sneaker brand has reloaded its NBA roster more in the last few years than Jordan Brand. The list of new signees to the Jumpman since 2019 includes Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, Rui Hachimura, Luka Doncic, and Bradley Beal, to name a few. This new “younger” cast joined a stacked roster of veterans, including future Hall of Famers like Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, and NBA Champion Jeff Green. Now it looks like the MJ and co have added another All-Star to the family with New Orleans Pelicans star Brand Ingram. While there hasn’t been an official announcement, Ingram attended the recent “Board of Governors” retreat exclusive to the Jordan Brand family. The secretive event typically occurs overseas and has produced some of the rarest Air Jordan “Friends and Family’ pairs over the years. Ingram, known for being quiet on social media, was tagged in a post by longtime Jordan Brand family member and former NBA player Quentin Richardson.
Ingram, a lottery pick out of Nike-sponsored Duke, signed to adidas upon entering the NBA in 2016. His tenure with the Three Stripes ended in 2021 and since then, he’s worn mostly Nikes, especially Kevin Durant’s signature line. Last season he mixed in some Jordan Brand sneakers; surprisingly, they weren’t his teammate Zion Williamson’s signature. Instead, he played ten games in the Jordan Zoom Separate, according to Kix Stats.
Ingram wore Air Jordan 14s to media day at the start of the 2022-2023 season.
With three new Jordan signature models on the market, look for Ingram to wear inline models or the flagship Air Jordan 38 next season.
