Initially teased via Virgil Abloh’s Instagram story during the release of the OG, we now have a closer look at the Off-White x Air Jordan 5 “Sail”. While no release date or official photos have been released, leaked images reveal that Abloh’s vintage-inspired design language will be applied to the latest product from his ongoing Jordan collaboration.
With “Nike Air” and “23” branding hidden underneath a thin layer of ripstop material, the classic iconography gains a cloudy, worn-out look that is perfectly in line with the shoe’s vintage aesthetic. The soles are worn out to a dark orange/yellow as if they had been sitting in the sun for years. Small cutouts appear across the lateral side of the shoe and on the tongue continuing with Abloh’s Reconstructionist design language. The upper is a creamy Sail White with Yellow accenting on the lace stays and side paneling that is purposefully dyed to look like a vintage pair of game-worn kicks. The extended tongue is done in Reflective Silver 3M with an embroidered Red Jumpman logo. Finally, Off-White’s Helvetica font can be found on the shoelaces and medial sides of the shoe.
