Cop or Drop — Ladies, here’s what dropped this week.

A new take on the Air Jordan 14 has arrived; the “Red Lipstick” is the perfect shade of red and symbolizes “strength, love, and passion.” This edition of the AJ14 is dressed in a premium Black matter leather upper, contrasted by Gym Red lining, speckled midsoles, and Metal Platinum detail for a hint of luxe to top off the design.

A sneaker book that was recently released has hit the shelves at select retailers — The First Pair by Christyna Pourhabib, a writer and Los Angeles native.

She asked sneaker enthusiasts around the country, “What was the first pair of sneakers that made you feel fly?” The responses tell a broader story, and that’s how The First Pair was born. The book contains gorgeously illustrated images and covers topics from race, gender, class, and identity. The author also shares her love for sneakers and how it began.

“For both footwear obsessives and newcomers alike, The First Pair is a journey into various moments in time, guided by expertly curated images of the flyest footwear and the sneaker lovers that have graciously allowed the reader into their sacred space.”

Naomi Osaka has been tapping into different industries from fashion to beauty. That being said, the tennis star has recently launched her skincare line KINLÒ which she can add to her list of accolades. 

Osaka wanted to bury the myth that those with darker skin don’t need sunscreen or can’t get skin cancer, which is where the idea was born. It’s a common misconception that affects the skincare and dermatology industry, therefore, neglecting people of color with products suited for their needs.

Skincare, such as sunscreen, is mainly made with ingredients that leave white casts on the face discouraging people of color from using it. Sun protective ads often lack photos of dark skin leading to skin conditions such as skin cancer in people of color.

The athlete teamed up with dermatologists to formulate SPF 50 that does not leave white casts behind, blocks UVA and UVB rays, and features a bronzy tint that blends in seamlessly. There are additional skincare products that soothe sun-exposed skin and tackle age spots and discoloration.

Though there are many celebrity beauty brands, KINLÒ stands out from the crowd as Osaka provides a product that fills a gap in the market for the underserved. We look forward to seeing what she has in store for the brand.

In honor of the WNBA’s 25th anniversary, WSLAM released its first-ever magazine dedicated to women’s basketball.

This all-encompassing magazine features the game’s greatest players, from Sheryl Swoopes and Lisa Leslie, who introduced the W to the world in 1997, to today’s stars, including Betnijah Laney, Diamond DeShields, and SS family Arike Ogunbowale, who grace the issue’s cover.
