Artist IDK (Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge) continues to empower the youth through his free course tailored to help the next generation of artists and industry members to better navigate the space.
“A lot of people don’t understand the rules, that’s why you get artists tweeting, ‘My label sucks, I hate my label, my label’s messing up my album,’” he explains. “But that’s not really the artists’ fault, in my opinion, it’s the labels’ fault for not educating artists that they sign. Expecting someone to come off the street, some of them just out of high school, to know how to operate is really unfair,” IDK told British Vogue.
The course is filled with an A-list of guest lecturers including footwear executives veterans like Reggie Saunders, Senior Director of Entertainment Marketing at Jordan Brand, and Njilan Ndure, North American Relationships Manager at Nike. Both Saunders and Ndure will be sharing their insight at the No Label Academy.
“No Label and IDK are constructing a comprehensive 10-day music business course. This free course focuses on building a pipeline for BIPOC talent to kickstart their music careers, democratizing, and reframing what is attainable in the industry,” states NLA.
Update: No Label is not affiliated with Harvard University, nor is No Label Academy a Harvard University program or activity.
