J.Balvin has earned his way to a rare status with Jordan Brand and its storied history working with musicians. The Colombian reggaeton superstar is now on his fourth Air Jordan collaboration and received a personal blessing from the GOAT along the way. The highly anticipated follow-up colorway to last year’s “Medellin Sunset” Air Jordan 3 is finally arriving this month. The “Rio” colorway continues the sunset theme of his first AJ3 but flips the switch to a black base.
Releasing a second colorway of the iconic silhouette puts Balvin in a rare class of collaborators for the Jumpman. He now joins the likes of Justin Timberlake and Anna Wintour with multiple AJ3 releases. (DJ Khaled has multiple friends and family pairs, and A Ma Maniere is releasing a second AJ3 colorway this year.) The success of his debut Air Jordan 1 collaboration in 2020 and his strong relationship with MJ have given Balvin the freedom to create, and he has not disappointed. The “Medellin Sunset” AJ3 was on almost every major top ten sneaker list last year, and even MJ was spotted in a pair. The “Rio” pair looks to be following in its footsteps as one of the most anticipated releases of 2024.
The J. Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Rio” will be released on SNKRS on May 22 at 7 AM PST for $250.
