Today, the Lakers unveiled the highly anticipated second (of 3) Kobe Bryant statues outside the Crypto.com center in downtown Los Angeles. The statue is inspired by a courtside photo taken on December 29, 2019, of Kobe and Gigle Bryant at a Los Angeles Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks game. The viral photo captured a heartwarming moment between the late father and daughter at their last Lakers game. In his post-retirement years, Kobe’s passion for women’s basketball had become well-documented, and it’s fitting that the statue features his orange WNBA hoodie. Like the photo, the statue shows Kobe wearing his NXT 360 “Infrared” and Gigi wearing the Kobe 4 Protro “Snakeskin.”
