As part of Nike’s ongoing commitment to ending racial inequality throughout the United States, the brand has revealed its latest recipient. Goalsetter, the country’s only black-owned, financial literacy program, will receive $1 million USD from Nike. As revealed in the brand’s press release: “Nike’s $1 million investment, which is Goalsetter’s largest corporate donation to date, will help the organization seed 10,000 kids’ savings accounts, with a focus on Black youth, through the Goalsetter app. The investment will help kids jumpstart their financial wellness journey.” Regarding the partnership, Goalsetter’s founder and CEO, Tanya Van Court stated: “Nike is propelling a historic moment by helping to change the way America educates a whole generation of kids — using culturally-relevant, game-based content to excite and engage them, and start them on a path to financial freedom”.
Nike is also donating an additional $2.75 million to a variety of local programs throughout the United States that focus on empowering Black communities either financially, through education, or social programs.
