Nike’s recently announced ‘Space Hippie’ collection is the brand’s newest venture in sustainable fashion and innovative design. Every sneaker in the ‘Space Hippie’ collection is composed of recycled and repurposed materials, resulting in a huge step forward for the industry in terms of environmental consciousness and innovative design.
Dubbed “Space Waste Yarn”, the knit material making up 90% of the upper is made entirely of recycled plastic water bottles, t-shirts, and scrap yarn.
The cushioning of every sneaker is made of recompressed, ZoomX scrap material from the production of the Vaporfly 4%, resulting in a comfortable feel, as well as a random, speckled patterning unique to each shoe as a result of its manufacturing.
To top it all off, every ‘Space Hippie’ midsole is encapsulated in a “Crater Foam” outer sole, a material made by blending a mixture of regular Nike foam and 15%, specialized ‘Nike Grind Rubber’.
Arriving in four unique silhouettes, expect the ‘Space Hippie’ collection to drop this Spring.
