How long have you been collecting sneakers?
28 years!
How many pairs do you currently have in your closet?
It’s sitting at 432.
How long have you been a member?
I’ve been a SoleSavy member for two years.
What is the oldest sneaker in your collection?
I have a couple of pairs from 1999 – Air Jordan 5 “Metallic” and “Fire Red.”
What’s the sneaker that got you hooked?
The Nike Trainer 1 was my first love because back in the day, it was cool to cop shoes from the mall or, in my case, JCPenny. If you got that mall purchase, folks knew. I fell in love with everything about the sneaker, especially the colorways. It sparked my love for all the Air Trainers, and they were the gateway to loving Bo Jackson and his shoes.
What’s your best steal or retail cop?
I got the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Reverse Mocha” for retail, but my favorite steal is the Nike Kobe 6 “Think Pink.”
What’s “the one that got away” for you?
DJ Clark Kent x Nike SB Dunk low.
What are five sneakers every person should have?
Jordan 1 (Bred), AirMax 1 (any), Nike Trainer 1 (OG) , Nike Dunk SB low (any) and Jordan 3 (Black Cement)
What’s a sneaker in your collection that always gets looks/compliments when you wear them?
The Air Jordan 8 “Oregon” PEs definitely always get some attention.
What’s the most you’ve done for a pair of shoes?
I gave up a lot for the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 5 “Friends & Family.” Seven pairs of sneakers, to be exact.
What’s an underrated pair of shoes you have in your collection?
I really like the Nike Air Max Scorpions.
Best sneaker trade?
I got a pair of Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low “Red” in exchange for a haul. Two pairs of Nike Dunks, Off-White x Nike Zoom Fly Sp “Pink,” and some cash on top.
What pairs do you have for sale or trade on COLLECT right now?
Nothing too crazy right now, but I do have the Yeezy Knit RNRs and Air Jordan 6 “Alternate Hare” on COLLECT.
What pairs are you currently watching / what will be your next pick-up?
Hopefully, I can grab a pair of the SoleFly x Air Jordan 13s coming up this weekend.
How do you think the sneaker game has changed since you started collecting?
It’s completely changed from back in the day, and it has so many layers now. I’ve adapted, but the one thing I wish folks will always remember is where it came from. History matters. Show more love to the older class, who can talk about the game’s history. It will only be to our benefit because the foundation of sneakers will never be lost.
What is your biggest frustration with sneakers as a whole right now?
The lack of raffle wins since this is the new process to secure kicks.
