author
Dean Hilario

SoleSavy Collections is back this week with a triple OG in the community, Sean Go. Apart from being a YouTuber and Photographer and an overall great guy, Sean is known to throw out the biggest sneaker steals around. Sean has been with us since we launched our first beta and we’re very excited to have him in on this week. You can also catch Sean on a previous episode of the SoleSavy Podcast.

How long have you been collecting sneakers?

16 years

How many pairs do you currently have in your closet?

500+

What is the oldest sneaker in your collection?

If I had to guess it’s the pink box SBs that I have. Stussy Dunk Lows, Bandaids and the De La Soul’s. I think all three released in 2005.

What’s the sneaker that got you hooked?

The first Jordan I ever got were the Jordan 12 Playoffs, but I was still a kid so I didn’t really appreciate them the same way I do now. I’d say the one pair that really got me hooked was the Air Jordan 21.

What’s your biggest steal, or retail cop?

Air Yeezy II Pure Platinum from the Nike Toronto store on Bloor Street.

What’s “the one that got away” for you?

What the Dunk SB Low

What are five sneakers every person should have?

Everyone should have at least one of the following – University Red Air Max 1, Chicago AJ1, White Cement 3, Infrared Air Max 90, Bred or Royal AJ1

What’s a sneaker in your collection that always gets looks / compliments when you wear them?

Anything a sneakerhead considers popular pre-2017 gets some love, like older SBs, iconic New Balance collabs (Cncpts, Ronnie Fieg etc.).

What’s the most you’ve paid for a pair of shoes?

I plead the fifth.

Do you prefer quantity or quality in your collection, and why?

Why not both? 🤣

Is there anything you’re looking to sell or trade currently?

I have a pair of the YZY Foamrunners in Sand up on COLLECT right now.

What pairs are you currently watching / what will be your next pick-up?

Lost and Found Chicago AJ1, Chicago Jordan 2s. I’ve heard rumors of the reimagined White Cement 3. That’s my favorite shoe of all time so I’ll definitely need to re-up on those too.

How do you think the sneaker game has changed since you started collecting?

The intention of collecting has shifted to become more about profit rather than love of the “game”.

What is your biggest frustration with sneakers as a whole right now?

Too watered down, with too many pairs releasing and so many being collabs it’s taken away from what a special collab used to be. Also dealing with instant sell outs online.

Brand rapid fire – What is your favourite Nike, adidas, Jordan, New Balance model?

Air Max 1, ZX 8000, AJ3, 999

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
