Sophia Chang and PUMA are collaborating for the first time in nearly a decade, releasing three China-exclusive colors of the PUMA Plexus. In 2014, PUMA and Chang released the Brooklynite collection.
Chang reps Queens, New York, but she celebrates her Eastern roots with the three-pack. Paintings of the Kangxi Emperor have inspired her newest project, which will come in gradient shades of “Emerald,” “Electro Peach,” and “Bluemazing.” Chang attempts to challenge established gender norms with references to prized gemstones across the silhouettes.
The futuristic sneaker debuted earlier this year and is notable for its unique lacing system, loosely pulling from the Mostro. PUMA is celebrating the launch of the Plexus by partnering with designers Forty-Two-And-A-Half who have enlisted 18 artists from their network to transform the silhouette through physical transformations and 3D rendering.
Sophia Chang’s latest collection with PUMA will be available at cn.puma.com, PUMA stores, and select retailers in China on June 12th for ¥1199 (approximately $168.61 USD).
