Stüssy x Nike Air Penny 2 Reportedly Releasing in 2022

Stüssy and the Swoosh have more on the way in 2022.

Following the recent releases of the Air Huarache, the Spiridon Cage 2 (in regular as well as Kukini form), and the Air Force 1 Low, the iconic streetwear label and the renowned footwear brand are teaming up once more.

In addition to the Stüssy x Nike Air Force 1 Mid celebrating the AF1’s 40th anniversary, more celebrations are in order as a Stüssy x Nike Air Penny 2. While it was rumored that the Penny 5 would be the canvas of choice for the collab, Complex‘s Brendan Dunne confirms that it’ll be the Penny 2.

The Air Penny 2 released during the 1996-1997 season, as designer Eric Avar followed up on the success of the Penny 1. The Orlando Magic guard’s second signature shoe included a Max2 unit in the heel and Zoom Air in the forefoot for ultimate comfort. The Penny 2’s upper was an evolved form of the Penny 1’s lateral wings-like support with tooth-like foam pieces protruding from carbon fiber shank. The signature “1 Cent” logo made its way onto the shoe’s tongue and heel as well.

Beyond its tech features, the Penny 2 was culturally embedded with its three original colorways that drew from a riyal blue, white, and black variation as the “Home,” “Road,” and “Atlantic Blue” colorways introduced the world to the Penny 2. The shoe was also part of Nike’s legendary phone number advertisement series, and the Penny 2 continued to spotlight Chris Rock’s Li’l Penny character.

Last seen in 2o16 for the shoe’s 20th anniversary, the Penny 2 retro joins the return of the Air Penny 1 “Orlando”  as well; 2022 is clearly an important year for the Penny line.

No leaked images of the Stüssy x Nike Air Penny 2 have surfaced, and there’s not any indication of what the colorway will be for the upcoming pair.

A release date for the Stüssy x Nike Air Penny 2 has not been announced. However, we expect the pair to release in limited quantities in Fall 2022 either on SNKRS, Stüssy.com, or potentially at Stüssy chapter stores. The collaborative Air Penny 5 will retail for $170.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
