After the breakout success of Aimé Leon Dore’s take on the recently revived New Balance 550 silhouette, New Balance is relaunching the 1980s hidden gem in earnest next month. The 2020 reissue of the New Balance 550 will be a (highly coveted) general release, launching at retailers worldwide on December 1st. The shoe will don almost all of the same characteristics as the ALD collaboration, simply without any of their branding or the inclusion of pre-yellowed vintage-style midsoles. The shoes will instead arrive in crisp white leather uppers with either black detailing and either primary Blue or Red accents throughout. Both Blue and Red colorways of the New Balance 550 will use their titular shades for all branding, as well as accents on the edges of the leather overlays, the midsole, sock liner, and outsole.
