You read that right. Famed auction house Sotheby’s will be selling a Nike Hyperdunk produced specifically for former US president Barack Obama. Only two pairs were ever created, this deadstock sample that has been kept in Nike’s personal vaults for the last 12 years and the one in Obama’s personal possession. The Hyperdunk was one of Kobe Bryant’s earliest signature sneakers with the Swoosh and comes in a white/beige/navy colorway based on the “United We Rise” colorway created for Team USA during the 2008 Beijing SUmmer Olympics. Other details unique to this PE are the embroidered “44” insignia on the medial toebox and an embroidered patch of the POTUS’ seal on the tongue. The shoe is a US size 12.5 men’s and will go up for sale on February 12th at exactly 4:44 pm EST via Sotheby’s “Buy Now” program for $25,000 USD.
