UPDATE (5/25/2023): adidas kicks off their highly-anticipated Yeezy restock with a raffle. It is open now exclusively on the adidas Confirmed app with the Yeezy 350 v2 “Carbon Beluga” and “Onyx” up for grabs. The raffle will close on May 31st at 5 a.m. ET and both pairs will retail for $230.
UPDATE (5/19/2023): adidas announced in a statement that they’ll start selling their remaining Yeezy inventory before the end of this month. Shoes will be sold at adidas.com/yeezy and through the adidas CONFIRMED app.
According to their statement, “a significant amount will be donated to organizations working to combat discrimination and hate, including racism and antisemitism.” Organizations include but are not limited to the Anti-Defamation League(ADL) and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change. This’ll be the first time adidas sells Yeezy silhouettes since the brand and Kanye West split last October, and designs sold in 2022 and 2023 will be up for grabs.
After careful consideration, we have decided to begin releasing some of the remaining adidas YEEZY products. Selling and donating was the preferred option among all organizations and stakeholders we spoke to. We believe this is the best solution as it respects the created designs and produced shoes, it works for our people, resolves an inventory problem, and will have a positive impact in our communities. There is no place in sport or society for hate of any kind and we remain committed to fighting against it.
adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden
Last week, adidas announced it would continue to sell Yeezy models and donate portions of the proceeds to charity. Earlier today, images of a potential Yeezy restock surfaced on adidas’ India website, which will become available starting June 1st.
The screenshot of rumored restocks shows the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Zebra” and the adidas Yeezy 500 “Utility Black”. Yeezy Foam Runners and Yeezy Slides are expected to be a part of the upcoming restock. Release dates for the silhouettes have not been confirmed but we expect them to roll out this summer.
As previously agreed upon, Ye will receive a 15% commission from all Yeezys sold.
CEO of adidas Bjørn Gulden said during the annual stakeholder’s meeting that the company considered burning the leftover merchandise, but he told investors that wasn’t a solution.
Last October, adidas terminated its contract with Kanye West when he made antisemitic comments. Their decision to sell West’s shoes doesn’t mean Three Stripes will continue collaborating with the artist.
With this move, adidas hopes to recuperate some of its $1.2 billion loss in revenue due to parting ways with West.
