Fresh off an eventful summer that included an incredible NBA playoff run and an Olympic gold medal, Devin Booker continues to apply pressure. The latest cover star for SLAM‘s KICK series not only opened up about his love for collecting cars and sneakers, the Big Blue Nation alum showcased the extremely rare 1985 Air Jordan 1 “Kentucky,” sourced by the one and only Curated Van.
In August 2020, we chopped it up with Curated Van and discussed its humble curation beginnings that started just over three years ago.
“My personal grails are 1985 Black Toe Jordan 1s, 1985 Kentucky Jordan 1s, and 1985 Natural Grey Jordan 1. I own them all, I do not have any intentions of selling them. However, if a cleaner pair comes along, I will move my current pair in order to acquire the cleaner pair,” said Curated Van founder Tye E.
Looks like a cleaner pair was found just for D Book.
The pair now being in the possession of Booker is no surprise. Sure, his Wildcat ties play a large role. However, as SLAM‘s Max Resetar writes in the cover story, the Phoenix Suns All-Star is a student of the game.
“That’s the big thing with Book. He studies. Hoops, kicks, cars, clothing, art, dogs. He wants to learn. He wants the pieces that laid the foundation.”
The KICSK 24 issue is available now on SLAM and at select bookstores.
