SoleSavy Weekly Selects – Sep 27, 2020

We’ve repeated it time and again, don’t fall for the hype. Yes, collabs and some colorways are special and are always welcome additions to the rotation. But with new releases coming out every day, there are awesome sneakers out there than can round out the rest of your rotation. Every week, we’ll be highlighting the best sneakers you can buy without the usual hassle and without dealing with the hype.

Nike Air Max 90 “Recycled Canvas”

The team here at SoleSavy are big fans of Nike’s Recycled Canvas Pack. The Air Max 90 is the clear standout to us. The silhouette makes the best use of the different colors of canvas and the accent really makes the shoe pop.

New Balance 992 “Gold”

New Balance shows no signs of slowing down this year. The 992 has seen a plethora of colorways this year most notably with the JJJJound and Packer collaborations. This particular model is very well executed and will add a nice splash of color to your sea of grey New Balances.

Nike Zoom Type “Menta”

One of Nike’s best new silhouettes this year is the Nike Zoom Type. With the double-stacked sole and sleek upper, this model blends technical elements into a very casual look. The comfort is really hard to beat and Nike has even given us the option to personalize a pair through the Nike By You program.

Jordan Delta Breathe

The Jordan Delta has been one of Jordan’s best hits, the breathe model included. Featuring a clean white upper with translucent hits where the swoosh is featured. The blue accents and suede hits really round out the shoe and prevent the silhouette from looking too technical. The shoe sits atop a full-length react midsole which we love at SoleSavy HQ.

Nike Space Hippie 04 “Astronomy Blue”

With another silhouette that is helping Nike’s Move to Zero Campaign, the Space Hippie 04 model deserves more shine than it has gotten. The newest “Astronomy Blue” colorway is our favourite after the OG pair. Featuring a comfortable flyknit upper donned in tan with blue accents, and the crater midsole demands everybody’s attention, this shoe is worthy of another spot in everyone’s rotation.

Nike Zoom Freak 2 “Ashiko”

Fresh off a historic season winning both MVP and DPOY awards, Giannis Antetokounmpo is poised to take the league by storm in the coming years. We covered the Zoom Freak 2 extensively ahead of its release, and our love for the silhouette hasn’t waned one bit. The Ashiko colorway is a nice departure from the classic black/white tooling that we usually see on basketball signatures and we can’t say no to a good gum sole.

A-Cold-Wall* x Converse ERX 260

The All-Star Rugged has definitely gotten most of the love from the ACW x Converse collaborative effort and the ERX 260 deserves just as much praise. ACW’s use of premium materials is on full display with this model. The translucent outsole sets off the rest of the greys on the shoe.

Adidas x Human Made Tokio Solar

Adidas and Human Made come together to bring us a clean and minimal silhouette in the Tokio Solars. We love the application of something technical like boost with a more lifestyle looking upper which is a nod to the Tokio trainers from the ’64 Tokyo Olympics. Not only is this a clean looking shoe that can be worn year-round, boost comfort is tried and true.

Adidas  Alphaedge 4D

4D has always been an exciting technology since its first announcement in 2017. The only problem initially was that 4D was very expensive to get into. Fast forward to now and we have models like the AlphaEdge that are available in the sub-$200 price point. We love the reflective pack (who doesn’t love 3M?) as it adds more futurism to an already innovative looking shoe.

Reebok Club C 85 Vintage

With another JJJJound collaboration on the horizon, we wanted to highlight the 85 Vintage version of the Club C. Featuring the same details as the JJJJound collab, this model features premium leather, an off-white upper and terry lining. As much as we love the JJJJound Club Cs, we don’t all have the luxury of waiting all day for a drop (Justin, we would all appreciate it if you just gave us a release time). If you really wanna lean into the JJJJound aesthetic, just take a pair of scissors to the tongue and cut the tag off.

quotes

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
